Judy Willis video was interesting and helpful to learn about technology strategies that teachers can use, as well as the importance of letting students explore technology in the classroom. In Salman Khan video, he discussed how educational videos can supplement students learning and how the videos can be accessed at any time, as many times you want; without anyone's interruption. Jane McGonigal talked about how video gaming can be used in helping students learn. I picked "Digital Youth Portrait: Jaylenthis video because I believe that not only other educators, but also students can really relate to this video and find it interesting. I could show this in my classroom and help students understand how they can combine their interest with school related content. Jaylen is one of the students who participates in his school social network called "Remix World". By using this technology source he gets to work on his creative identity. Jaylen is very passionate about using technology in everything he does, including most of his schoolwork. He is only twelve years old, but already very precise in what he does. In future, he is planning on continuing his education in technology and maybe becoming a cartoonist, artist or a video game maker, but to Jaylen all of these professions " all come together."

I agree that Jalen is an inspiring young man. However, it also needs to be noted that Jalen is a talent child who is being nurtured by teachers, mentors and parents who embrace his passion and interests. They have designed spaces such as Remix World that allow Jalen to then connect to other youth. The video doesn't go into this, but Remix World was integrated into the curriculum. Also, teachers were open to alternative assessments. Allowing Jalen to design a comic book rather than a traditional 5 paragraph essay or designing projects that allow youth like Jalen to bring in their creativity is key. I recommend before showing students the video, that there is an infrastructure that supports the digital arts, collaboration and student-driven learning. Without the design and structures created by the adults, even youth like Jalen would not be able to cultivate their talents effectively. As you begin to take over the classroom and design and implement curriculum, what structures and how much youth agency will you allow in the learning environment?
